How Does Key by Amazon Work?

At no additional cost, Amazon Prime subscribers with an active OnStar account (currently in 37 U.S. cities and surrounding areas) can get in-car deliveries with Key by Amazon.

With Amazon Key in-car delivery, packages can be delivered to your vehicle when you park it in a publicly accessible area, such as on the street in front of a residence or apartment building or on an outdoor workplace parking lot. Currently, delivery is available on tens of millions of Amazon’s items and can be delivered via standard shipping or even Two-Day or Same Day delivery.

How to Set Up Key by Amazon (and Does My Chevy Have It?)

Setting up Amazon Key in-car delivery is easy.

First, download the Key by Amazon app and complete the one-time setup. Once you’ve completed setup, when you’re checking out while purchasing an item on Amazon, you’ll select “In-car delivery” from the checkout menu.

Once you’ve finished selecting in-car delivery, you simply place your order and make sure your vehicle is parked in a publicly accessible area during the date and time of your estimated delivery date.

You can expect your Amazon key delivery within a 4-hour delivery window. Plus, you can get delivery notifications from within the Key by Amazon app to know when your package has been delivered. An Amazon delivery driver will drop off your item within your trunk for pickup, then ping their system so you get a notification the moment it’s delivered.

Currently, the be eligible for Amazon Key in-car delivery, your Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac must be a 2015 model year or newer. You’ll also need to double-check with OnStar’s coverage map to make sure that your area is eligible for Amazon key in-car delivery.
