At most dealerships, including right here at Dan Vaden of Brunswick, we sell an average of about one Chevrolet Volt every month. That may not seem like a whole lot, but that's just about what Chevrolet has budgeted for - especially considering that the Volt is powered by technology consumers are unfamiliar with. The beauty of the Volt really lies in the fact that the technology is so forward-thinking, many people stop by to check it out, and then drive away in a different fuel-efficient new Chevrolet model.
Except, there's one dealer in Southfield, Michigan that's managing to move, on average, 25 Volts a month. Yup. 25.
Which is especially impressive when you consider that the annual average for vehicle sales in 2010 was about 650 for dealerships across the United States. So, how is this Michigan dealership outselling the rest?
Of course, they're right down the street from Chevrolet's Detroit plant. So it's easy for them to order 25 Volt models a month. Second, many Chevrolet employees live in and around this area, and of course they're Volt enthusiasts. But that's not to say the dealership isn't working hard at it, either.
What makes this story even more impressive is the fact that this dealership has only been open since earlier this year. When they built the showroom, they made the wise decision to include innovative technologies that older dealership can't easily implement. That, of course, includes two big windmills that provide about 15 percent of their power. And they have a Volt charging station.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet continues to offer enticing lease and financing deals on top of the up to $7,500 tax incentives available for the Volt.
We don't have any windmills, but rest assured that the very same Volt models that are selling like hotcakes in Michigan are available right here in Brunswick, GA. Curious?
