Of the 3.5-billion soccer fans around the world, 659 million of them are faithful to Manchester United. Not only is 659 million people nearly one-tenth of the world's population, it also makes Manchester United the world's most popular sport franchise. You're probably thinking - where are these 659 million people living? Certainly not in the UK. You'd be right there - nearly half their fan base is in Asia.
Asia is also where sales of new Chevrolet models continue to rise. So then it makes sense that Chevy has recently taken up a five-year partnership with Manchester United, making them the official automotive sponsor of the soccer league.
This might seem a bit odd, considering Chevrolet also recently announced they'd be pulling advertising from the Super Bowl in 2013. But, it's really not that far-fetched when you consider that for every ten new Chevrolet models sold around the world, six of them are outside of North America. This new deal won't affect their ad spending in the U.S. - in fact, all of the money they're saving from the Super Bowl ads has already been reallocated to other NFL spots.
As for the partnership with Manchester United, the Chevy bowtie will appear throughout the stadium, but not on the team's jerseys. Joel Ewanick, GM's Global Marketing Chief explains, "Everywhere I travel in the world, I run into Volkswagen or Hyundai or Toyota, who are doing this very very well."1 He goes on to explain that this is an advertising resource they have yet to tap into, and are excited to get started.
Rest assured, no matter how much Chevrolet grows globally, the team here at Dan Vaden of Brunswick will be here to help you find the new Chevrolet model that you're looking for. Simply stop by our showroom at 121 Altama Connector Brunswick, GA 31525 or contact us via our website to learn more!
